? Where is the Gen1 Taco traffic at ?

I would pick at it if it were a 1996 model
Luv that single cab get around the town in vintage style

Here in New England with one of those pickups, you couldn't even get in your driveway on a snowy/ice day with one. Nobody has 2wd small pickups around here....they're basically non existent. Its been many months since seeing one last summer.

So wheel the 5 lugger around the town during the non-snowy months!?
Not worth it, unless it doesn't cost you anything. We have a state law that all vehicles sitting in ones driveway must be registered...they want their property tax to. Muscle cars are the attraction here, not old 2wd small pickups. I owned an old 73 Datsun 2wd pickup back in the day....you couldn't even drive that thing on wet rainy roads without a case of white knuckles.

We're more into technology development, and giving sanctuary to illegals. Why do you think dumb, and dumber are getting so upset? Trump is going to cut them out of their kick backs, and slush fund.

As long as they have enough uneducated people that lack critical thinking, will end up buying these old lumber wagons driving up the price as more end up in the boneyard. I see it here with a friends kid when he was talked into a gen1, and now has put so much into it, he can't afford to unload it, yet its been down for repairs longer than he's driven it. Poor kid should have thought it out first, knowing he has no mechanical skills, relying on others to do the work. Kid could have had a newer gen2 by now....probably in better shape to.

your kid has NO mechanical aptitude??
Gen2 are extremely COSTLY to maintenance as well they are now turning 20 years old

Friends kid. He's able to rotate tires without getting hurt, but thats about it. He's just out of college with a part time job.

everybody should have some basic wrenching knowledge
used to be taught in 'shop class' in the jr or sr high schools

I agree, but that stuff is no longer taught much here in our high schools. You'd have to enroll in a technical trade school as I did when I elected to, instead of going to the local high school. They have 3 levels of ability when I started in a trade school graduating in the top 25 of our class out of 106.
Soon as one graduates high school...they are pushed into college for a degree of some sort. I went for two semesters for electrical engineering at a tech college, and found it wasn't for me. Learning on the job working for others was probably the best experience I absorbed like a sponge.
As for a gen2 being very expensive to service...they all are, no matter what gen, but your less likely to see big problems in a newer vehicle. Heck my truck just turned 5 years old this month with a little over 30k miles. Most its going to see is new tires, and fluid chances this summer or at least in warmer weather. It'll be its first big expense.
