My ‘10 has done it. My ‘16 and ‘17 did it, and my wife’s 07 Sequoia does it. It’s definitely axle wrap. Especially if it’s when you stop harder than normal. Putting the transmission in neutral WILL cause it not to happen because the torque on the rear axle has been removed. As others have said...
There’s a company that sells a hood scoop vinyl overlay. A lot of guys have done it on Tacoma world. I’m not sure where they have gotten the overlays, but it looks good.
Mine was a YJ. It was converted from carburetor to fuel injection, several things done to the motor, header, cat back exhaust, 5” lift and 33s. It was cool when it ran, but that was always a guess if it was gonna run or not.
I did the Jeep thing before. It was constantly breaking down. Toyota’s will last longer than a Jeep. It was just listed as one of the worst vehicles to buy in Kiplingers. It’s a Jeep thing, you wouldn’t understand. Haha, yes I do, they aren’t as nice as my Tacoma.[emoji23]

I’m having the same issue in my 2010 but at 40 mph. I’ve had in the dealership twice. Had the transmission flushed along with several other things. They can’t pin point the issue to a specific part, so they told me to keep driving it until it’s more pronounced. Luckily it’s under warranty so...
Plasti dipped the grill emblem and badges. Then finally put a receiver hitch on and added the Smitybilt step. Using the step to possibly persuade anyone that thinks of riding my ass once they see it at their hood.[emoji23]
