I take its one of those online reads taking his word, rather then actually seeing it for yourself. You do any work with these trucks whether towing, or hauling stuff, the gear oil gets pretty warm, and over time it breaks down.

Yeah bs...we've seen the 3rd member of a couple gen1 toyota's that had to be replaced at 160k miles that were all worn out from never replacing the gear oil.The bearings, ring, and pinion gears were so worn you could cut your hand on the gear teeth themselves.

I haven't touched my gen3 since I picked it up in feb. of 2020 doing only yearly oil, and cabin filter changes. I guess it's time to replace the engines air filter at nearly 38k miles. Maybe do differential, and transfer case fluid also in the near future. Don't like to mess with too much as...
