Take it apart, use hot soapy water, dawn dish soap. Take your time and wash it good. I Hit a couple bug spots with brake cleaner.

They stick out around 2- 3 inches. Makes it nice for washing top of truck.

Since my last post I had the TSB done and the whistling noise is gone. I'm pretty sure it will solve the whistling on your truck too. Good luck.

These dealers are robbing Toyota blind when they know the needle bearing design is a flaw but shame on Toyota for knowing about it as well and not building a new part to fix the issue. Really strange how all this works. Either way i hope the humming never comes back for you. Keep us posted.

And i think you already said it goes away when you put it in 4x4. Get the bushing you will happy afterwards. Good luck.

You mention the vibration but are you getting the humming, around 30-45 mph a rotational sound? Its usually not constant just comes and goes as the wheel turns at these speeds? I only ask because maybe your tires are out of balance a little? Its common that you will have both symptoms based on...
