I'm a newbie to my Tacoma 2016 SR5 I noticed that the 4 cylinder doesn't get much respect and is never reviewed in the online sites. Kinda curious why? And are there more V6 trucks out there? Now I wonder if I made the right choice getting a 4 cylinder.

As long as you are happy with it don't worry about what others think. I have the 4 cyl and it does everything I need it to. Just not very fast lol

The 4 bangers don't have the power to do truck work (towing and hauling). The V6 sells a lot more because is have the power to do the work.

I don't plan on towing maybe haul some light weight stuff in the bed. I bought it to off road driving and 4x4 thru some deep snow.

4cyls will save you a ton of money. Less oil consumption, more reliable (less moving parts), and better on gas. Plus there's more room in the engine bay for mods. If I had a 4cyl taco Id still be happy
I dont use any measurable amount of oil. And i thought the 4 had more capacity than the V6 of 5.5qrts.

I also get 21mph highway, is that bad?

4cyls do save you a ton of money compared to v6. They are less maintenance you can't deny that.

Any money "saved" is negligible. If moving parts were such an issue then V8s, 10s 12s and 16s would be blowing up everwhere. The 1GR V6 uses copper plugs which are less expensive than the iridium plugs required in the 2TR.

Less maintenance how? They require the same things. 2 less plugs but that's it.

Less moving parts = less to maintain
