2007 Tacoma transmission/transfer case problems

I have a 2007 taco 2.7 4x4 with a 5 speed transmission and about 75,000 miles. Today I drove to the gas station and when I went to leave, something felt like it was holding the truck. (E-brake was disengaged) I tried forward and reverse and the truck wouldn't budge. I put it in 4 wheel and it moved about 5ft forward and backward, then I switched back to 2 wheel and it made a light clunk and drove away with no noises or anything. It was almost like the front axle was engaged and the transfer case wasn't, anybody else ever have any problems like that?
 
I kinda had that thought run thru my head head but it definitely felt like something was binding up under there. So much, I smelled the clutch get hot in about 15 seconds from trying to move. Ive never had a brake stick that wouldn't let the vehicle move at all. Its got me scratching my head
