255/85/16 tires on 2nd gen

Does anyone have any experience running 255/85/16 tires on 2nd gen? Will they rub? I want taller not wider to get truck off the ground without adding lift. I was looking at the Cooper Discoverer ST. My truck is only 2WD, but I want to give off-road look. I recently added a cargo basket to roof and when I purchase new wheels and tires, I will put spare on top. Thoughts on this size tire please.

When I bought my Tacoma it had 265/75/ 16s on it and there was no issue and plenty of room. Not sure how much taller the tire is your wanting to go to
 
A 265/75/16 is 31.6” tall and 10.4” wide. A 255/85/16 is 33.1”tall and 10” wide. I know the wider tire will rub and I would have to trim. I heard 33” (285/70/16)would fit but need to trim.
 
I know you said you didn't want to add lift but have you thought about maybe doing like 1 inch lift If the tires didn't fit? Also have searched around on tacoma world? I find stuff there sometimes that's not on this forum
