3rd gen MPG question

I’ve had my 17 trd sport for about 6 months now and never really payed attention to my gas usage. Just started paying attention and going to work early in the mornings, I’m getting around 17-19. But after work or on weekends I’m getting 11 mpg . I do live in so cal and it is hot this time of year and wondering if it’s the A/C killing my gas. 11 seems terrible to me. My truck does have a level kit with 265/70/R17. Is there anything else that could be causing bad gas mileage or is this normal. Only in the mornings I get decent gas mileage. IMG_8789.jpg
 
A/C will use more gas.....idling in traffic kills your mpg 'cause you're not moving.....I'm a bit confused on the 11mpg with the weekends/after work. What's your commute miles? Traffic?

To work is only around 5 miles lol So when I’m driving normal to go shopping or whatever it may be. From point A to point B is always around 11 mpg. If I’m lucky and my destination is downhill I’ll get 13/15. But now that u mentioned it. When I’m in traffic idling with A/C cranking, I’ve seen it as low as 9, crazy!!! I expected I would never see anything lower than 16 mpg, average 18 and 20+ on highway.
 
I drive my truck like it owes me money and the worst I ever see is 15 avg on the tank... most tanks are 18 -20 mpg... today I got almost 24 mpg on a 2 hr drive but I dropped a lot in elevation... lol

That’s what I figured I would get. But when I saw a 9 and a 11 I was like WTF something must be wrong. Do u have any ideas why my MPG is so bad? Hope it’s something simple, dirty filter I don’t know.

Then again......after a week of driving you could check the actual gallons you put into the tank against your miles to get a more exact avg.
 
Trip mileage can be hard to calculate. Do the math, not what the computer shows, on a full tank burn and see what you get for an overall MPG.

Driving today to get powder I averaged 23.4........I've seen over 25 and never below 19.......and mine is 4WD '17 OffRoad. I'm happy!....happy!.....happy!
 
Was driving wifey's 18 Explorer yesterday bringing some AZ friends on a wine tour around Calaveras Co. Just for fun I switched screens to see the mpg's since I had been driving politely all day.... 18.3... not impressed at all since my truck has 18.7 avg on the tank right now and I was abusing the crap out of it for the first 1/3 of a tank and I just never drive it politely anyway... lol
Oh well, the A/C seats are awesomeness... lol
