This has been puzzling me for awhile. Today it really got me questioning the height on these various 3rd gen tacoma's that were all stock with no chassis mods.
I had an identical extra cab desert sand sr5 4x4 v6 tacoma parked next to me....looking side by side, yet my truck sat nearly 2'' higher. I just kept looking it over in disbelief. Btw, both trucks had the same size tires. Now I've also seen this in the past when comparing other bone stock 3rd gen 4wd tacoma's here to each other. Seems some trucks are very similar in stance, and others vary. Seems most sr trims sit on the lower side when compared to the trd, or sport trims.
