Bed bolt torque

Does anyone know the torque on the 6 large bed bolts (T55 I believe, they are M12)?

Tighten the until right before they snap.

I always tell people to tighten the bolt until it snaps or the threads pull, then back off a quarter turn.

Go to Tacomaworld and look up Torque Spec Guide. Not sure if it will help for the 3rd gen though. Worth a try!

Thanks, but I looked it up and no bed bolts. 50-60 ft lbs seems to be the general opinion. I would say 60 dry threads, 50 lubed threads, unless I find some actual torque figures. After all, you're only clamping plastic to steel.

Sure, have at it. Just remember, that applies also to fasteners in precision types of work, fine watches, high end digital calipers, etc.

I looked all over the net. A few people with new(ish) trucks arrived at from 55 to 60 foot pounds to break the fasteners loose. So I guess 50 to 55 foot pounds dry threads for torque, minus 5 pounds for lube. Mine are getting antizeize covered and silicone under the bed washer. Great water trap.
