Bed rails

I am considering bed rails. I have a 2007 pre runner v6 TRD off road. I have the 5ft short bed. What length and brand do you all recommend? And any tips on installation?

I have seen very few owners with non stock bed rails.

I have the Westin platinum ovals and I'm really happy with them and they look great

I think he means the bed rail caps not side steps/nerf bars/sliders.

Yes, i am talkin bed rail caps, i already have westin step bars.

Nah man dont worry about it. Its just i could use bed rails to better tie down equipment for work, but it seems nobody uses bed rails on their tacomas.

I like the adjustable tie downs that come stock

I use them, but with heavy tools i feel they are not enough. I had a pressure washer tied down to them and it still smacked my rear window. In addition to purpose they look cool.

You may get a bit more rigidity with metal caps but remember that the bed is composite so the strength of the caps is still only as strong as the bed rail.

I suggest modding the bed bolts to include tie downs. There is a how to somewhere on TW but I can't look it up now.
