Everytime I start my 02 tacoma, a belt screeches, and then it will stop as soon as I let the clutch out a little in gear, the screech stops. My belts are really tight and I don't want to tighten them any more.
Any ideas? Thank you!
Check belts if glazed, or cracked. Sometimes if the vehicle has a lot of mileage the pulleys are just worn out. Other than replacing them, sand blasting them might get you a bit more use.
Didn't catch this was a manual transmission truck till reading the thread again. This might be a clutch issue with a noisy throwout bearing while blaming the belts, seeing the noise happens when the clutch is pressed, and released.
Yeah thanks guys. It's a high pitched squeal, hard on the ears. Now you got me thinking about the throw out bearing. Ouch. I'll have to put new belts on first and go from there.
Thanks again!
