Hello all. My girl sold her 134k miles 1990 K2500 Silverado and wanted something smaller. Picked up, from landlord's son, a 1996 RWD Tacoma ext cab with 79, 650 miles on it. His grandad was the original owner and then when he passed, the son got this Tacoma. I have done work on this truck. No leaks, dents or rust. All maintenance is completely up to date and it runs great. A/C cold and heat blows hot. I put new tires on it and she loves the easier access to the bed and easier for her to see while driving. Even big enough for my 6'4" frame and 280 lbs.

I am a retired ASE Master Tech and ASE Service Consultant and hope to contribute and get info when needed. I am also a Vietnam Vet. Former ship's company on the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk CV63.

I am trying to load pics of the Tacoma and your site will not let me. I have tried 6 different pics.

Thank you for your service. Vietnam was a difficult time.
Those gen1's were a well made truck, but they did have major frame issues. I assume your trucks chassis/frame has been inspected, or replaced if from a rust state.

There is no rust at all. I live in the Willamette Valley of Oregon and there is no salt on the roads in 99% of the state. They do use a salt brine in some of the passes.

Do you have any info for why a simple pic cannot be downloaded?

Never was into pictures....never even owned a camera, but some forums require you to have a certain number of posts before you can start downloading pictures.
Btw if it's anything like the brine they use on the roads here in the northeast ....it's deadly on unprotected metals, like a toyota frame. You may not see the rust before it's too late having those boxed in frame sections. They rust from the inside out.

Fortunately, this 96 Toyota truck, has never been out of the Willamette Valley and never will be. We have 2 4wd vehicles if want or need to go in the passes.

The pics were attempted to load but would get a warning that the "File was too large" to load. These were not large pixel pics. They are pics that easily and fastly load at other forums I belong to.
