Cruise control

Does anyone know if you can use cruise control while towing a travel trailer? I have a 2019 Tacoma with the towing package.

Yeah you can but I don't know that it would be a good idea if you've got an automatic transmission. It don't take hardly anything to get our auto trans to shift down then back up and then back down again. I'd play with it and see how it goes but you might wind up going in sport mode and only allowing it to get to 5th gear.

Definitely sport with a 5th gear limit and ECT on.

Yes you can tow a travel trailer while using cruise control. However if you are climbing a steep grade and the speed you set it at becomes unatainable the cruise control will disengage.

Agreed. You can use cruise control while towing.

If you are in OD and the AT begins to hunt for gears, then shift out of OD.

First thing you need to check is the tow capacity of your truck vs the loaded weight of the trailer. 2nd thing is the tongue weight of the loaded trailer. Tongue weight is part of the cargo weight on the truck.

Stay within the limits and you'll have fewer issues.

When I load my trailer I tow all the time in S5. Never use ECT, engine just overrevs all the time burning too much fuel. It must be for really towing big loads over 5k lbs.
