I just did my first tune up. By that I mean I replaced the plugs, wires, cleaned the MAFS, cleaned the o2 sensor, cleaned and charged the K&N filter.
I was going to do the PCV valve but I broke half of the grommet off and couldn’t get the rest so I just left it on. I don’t think there is a problem with the PCV valve anyway. When I get brave I will finish that job. I am scared the rest of the grommet will fall into the valve cover.
I also started to replace the fuel filter but when I took off the nuts on the end that goes to the tank, it seemed like something was stopping the fuel line from coming out so I just put it back. I also didn’t know how much fuel it would drop and I was in my garage at my apartment and it wasn’t seeming to stop. I did depressurization on the fuel line by unplugging the relay switch under the steering wheel as per the manual.
When I first did the tune up I got the wires mixed up. I turned the truck on and knew there was something wrong.
I got the wires figured out. But now it’s wanting to stall when in gear and the idle is a little funny. I checked the hoses for vacuum leaks. How do I figure out what’s wrong?

I'm a pretty good shade tree mechanic, unfortunately the shade tree died years ago. About the only thing I do myself anymore is change my oil. When it comes to all this computer crap I take it to someone that understands all that stuff.

Again done quote me on this but I think the term "drive cycle" is the period of time after codes are cleared, if you make it thru the drive cycle with no codes ya fixed it.
Yeah, I think I’ve figured it out. Got like three different codes, but I re-cleaned the sensors they were referring to and I’ve been driving for a couple days with no DTCs showing up. The real test will be if I can get it to pass smog here it CA, which is the reason I did all this in the first place. The PCV valve was barely functional and the o2 sensor was pretty carboned up. The plugs looked damn good for being five years old though.

I wish you luck, hope everything works out. I've never head of anyone cleaning their o2 sensors before, usually they just replace them. Interested to see if this actually works.
