After reading many post about that sorry charcoal filter in the filter box. I decided to rip that out first thing this morning! I'm sure I'm not going to gain anything but a little better free flowing air! Well that and tick off a few environmentalists! WIN WIN!!

Just did the same thing today

What you guys talking about I got a 16 and want to know more about the filter
There are 2 from filters on the stock intake. The secondary is a charcoal filter. Removing it is supposed to increase air flow. Some have said it increased mpg but I haven't noticed any difference

Good crap what next Cadilac converters EGRs Def. I will have to go get rid off mine thanks for the info.

How does a filter on the intake reduce emissions? From my understanding, the filter on the air intake keeps crap out of your engine and has nothing to with emissions (i.e., post-combustion devices such as the catalytic converter typically handle the emissions scrubbing). I would think that if you remove an intake filter you would run the risk of warranty claim denial should your engine implode any time during the initial warranty coverage. Something to consider.....

First off you are not removing the intake Air filter, you are removing a second charcoal filter that is after the normal air filter. I did this on my 08 tundra that I bought new and still own, no issues at all. it has something to do with capturing unused vapors when you turn the engine off.

where is the Charcoal Filter located when I remove my air filter and air intake hose I do not see anything.
It's in the upper part of the air box. Right about your main air filter. You don't need to remove your intake hose to see it. What year is your Tacoma? It might just be on 2nd generation tacomas
