G Stop Braided Steel Brake Lines

Referencing a conversation with @Bojangles yesterday (and not wanting to completely highjack the other thread), I started researching purchase of steel brake lines (among other things).

I'm just wondering... is there harm in getting brake lines a bit longer than "normal"? I see that the G Stops are offered with extension options at 2 and 4 inches. I am debating an OME kit that supposedly will give 2 inches, so I planned to order the 2 inch extended lines. However, I may not do the lift kit immediately, so wanted to ask around to see if there was potential for some unseen consequences of running the longer lines unnecessarily. I don't expect any issues, but figured I'd ask in case I glossed over something...

The front can be stock length because you are lifting within the travel of the stock suspension. Basically you are raising to a higher point within the stock travel capabilities.

What are you doing to list the rear? The OEM lines have enough for stock travel. I don't know if the OME shocks allow for more droop.

The rear is supposed to be lifted a hair over two inches, replacing the stock leafs with a set of Dakars (the shocks are replaced with OME bits as well).

Well the limiting factors are the shocks and bump stops, not the leaf pack. Getting 2 inches longer won't harm anything without a lift. I'm that way now with custom lines.

Thanks for the insight! I felt the need to gather other opinions, versus simply ordering and installing, only to find some issue I hadn't thought of.

If you’re looking to get “flexy” in the rear, you’re handy with a welder and good at geometry; 63” leafs from a Cheby truck are a great option. I personally haven’t put them on a Tacoma but lots of people have, there’s some good build threads out there to walk you through it. IIRC, 28” lines and 12” travel shocks were the magic #’s. Just food for thought. Lol
