Hi everyone, Shane here from Genesis Offroad. I'm new here on Tacoma Forum, but I've been lurking for a long time. My company makes the most complete and easiest to install dual battery kits on the market. We are well known in the Jeep world, but after getting absolutely slammed with requests for a dual battery kit for the Tacoma at Overland Expo West 2016, it opened my eyes to the Toyota world. It only took a quick bit of research to realize I had been overlooking a big market segment! I picked up a '17 TRD Offroad back in March and began designing a dual battery system for it, and it was officially launched a few weeks ago at Overland Expo East 2017. The response at the show was incredible! We even earned a spot in Driving Line magazine's 7 Must-Haves from the show!

Our kit is designed to protect your cranking battery from being drained by your aftermarket accessories.

The 1/8" steel tray is designed to be as easy to install as it can possibly get.

full

The tray uses 2 Group 34 batteries. You can use any brand of battery that you like, they just need to be the Group 34 size to fit our tray. The Group 34 has more cold cranking amps and more reserve capacity than the Group 35 batteries that are used with other kits - meaning you can run your accessories longer before the battery goes dead. Our kit also keeps the factory post clamps so there is NO cutting of factory wires.

full

The top plate that holds the batteries down comes completely pre-wired out of the box - no wiring for you to figure out at all!

full

We also offer the Odyssey 34-PC1500T batteries as an option on our website for those who want everything dropped off at their doorstep. You can also find these at some Autozone stores and the Batteries Plus (or Batteries + Bulbs) chain of stores.

full

The top plate comes with a Cole Hersee 200 amp smart isolator (pn 48530), power & ground bus bars for connecting your accessories, a boost button to jump start from your second battery if your cranking battery is dead, and a port for plugging in our optional G Screen monitoring system - a 1" lcd screen that monitors the batteries and the isolator.

The smart isolator connects the batteries together when the cranking battery is above 13.2v for 2 minutes, giving you the combined capacity of both batteries for extra run time. Once they drain below 12.7v for 1 minute, it automatically separates them. All your accessories run from the second battery, protecting your cranking battery from being drained. The factory fuse box is hard wires straight to the cranking battery, so all your factory circuits will run from the cranking battery. If you leave the radio on for too long, you can still end up with a dead cranking battery, but no worries, simply hit the boost button one time to use the power from the second battery to help start the engine.

full

All the wiring is done for you - all the wires line right up with the battery posts to make it easy to install.

full

The power and ground bus bars give you a convenient place to connect your accessories that need direct battery power. High amp accessories like a winch will go to the large center stud, and your low amp accessories such as LED lights can connect to any of the 8 small screws around the circle. This way you're not playing ring toss, as we call it - stacking up ring terminals on your battery post clamps.

full

Some people have reported issues with other kits causing the factory sheetmetal to fatigue. Our tray spreads the weight of the batteries across a wider area to avoid that problem.

full

The final installation is tight under the hood. Very tight! But we managed to squeeze 2 Group 34 batteries in there to give you the most power possible. A lot of time was spent carefully measuring to ensure a flawless fit, and to make it as simple to install as it can possibly be.

Shane, looks like a great product. I can see you have put a lot of thought into it, I'm impressed with the engineering and quality. It's on my list of upgrades but will have to wait for now as I'm currently doing front bumper and roof rack. Its a pretty big investment, so it'll be on the next list for sure.
