How do you...

so I was installing speakers ....long story short, the handle came off the cables. I put together but apparently the ball fell off the latch. Now my door does not open. Anyone have any experience with this? Or should I just take to a car audio shop? Luckily it’s the driver rear door but that’s the door my daughter climbs into to get to her car seat.

Getting desperate, any help is appreciated

Try taking the door apart and reassembling — it’s easy to seat the cable back into the door latch.

Post a pic of what you’re working with if it doesn’t work out

So what a frustrating job...so ended up calling my auto body buddy who told me to try and pull up to try and unhook the panel. After many pulls eventually came off and put together.
Don’t ever want to do that again.

I have a set of those...I think you have a misunderstanding of what happened. So I took the panel off, using all the proper tools, however after installing the speakers I did not assemble the door/lock cable latches.

Which then made the doors not open due to being stuck in the lock position. So what I had to do to get the panel off with the door closed. I had to unscrew the 2 screws then unlatch the window module switch the somehow pull up on the panel while pulling to try and get it off the hinge. Like i said, not very fun.

SMH what a PITA. I’m glad you got it fixed.

Yeah that definitely sucks — guessing you’ll always test your work before you close the door!

I’ve also learned a few things the hard way

Panel tools and youtube vids should do the trick. If you purchased your speakers from crutchfield... they will supply instructions, wiring and tools to do the job correctly.
Found this video very helpful when I added speakers to my 09 Tacoma..
