LED Strip Lights

I installed two-color strip lights on the rockers of my truck yesterday. I hooked the white lights up to my dome lights, they work great (I'll post a photo in my build).

I temporarily connected one of the lights to my left turn signal as a test to see if I would have hyper-flash. It didn't. So I went ahead and connected both sides to their respective turn signals (spliced in behind the light socket) and turned the key to test them out. Both bulbs burned out! WTF?

I think I tapped into the ground side of the light.

LOL I was an F-16 Falcon electrician in the Air Force for 13 years so I figured this would be an easy mod. Probably would have been better if I had a wiring diagram.
