Lower running boards

My wife has a problem getting in and out of our 09 Taco. It came with after market running boards but we need something with a 2nd lower step. Any DIY ideas about adding a 2nd lower step ?

Those are similar to what my 19 came with. I wasn't sure id like them when I first got the truck but theyve grown on me. With the loop step you dont have to use them or make an extra move to get around them when exiting. Actually they work pretty good.
