All those cheap ebay "chips" you may be talking about are fancy plastic boxes covering a resistor. Steer clear.

X1, ucon, maf calibrator are proven.... ovtune is still being tweaked iirc and new to our trucks.
 
Maybe....MAYBE the maf calibrator could help as it finds hp by leaning the open loop fuel tables. But theres VERY little it does in closed loop (where you do the majority of your driving).
 
Whats your current mpg?
How many miles on truck?
What maint have you done?
2wd or 4wd?
I4 or v6?
