Radio malfunction

I have a 2016 TRD Sport and have had issues with my radio, media console.

It will stop playing or functioning and reset itself. This happens when I’m using the Bluetooth function or entering an address for directions

Also it has frozen on startup and done nothing. I have to turn the truck off then back on to get it to work.

The dealer has installed a couple updates thinking this was the issue-but it continues to happen in spite of this.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

Yes i have the same issue with a 17 OR. When the update is installed it stops doing it but then after a while does the same thing again[emoji23] those are tears of hoplessness

Try contacting corporate and getting a case started. They might need to replace the head unit.

Yeah. Like posted above it does this more when its time for an update.
I’ve noticed it more when using the voice command or Bluetooth Siri hands free option a lot in a row. It seems to overload it and it resets.
 
Got my truck a week ago, the radio reset several times when I tried to use the Bluetooth, a mechanismat my job said to take the navigation sd card out and put it back in. Since I did that I have not had an issue. I have an appointment at the dealership this week to start a case and get it documented so they have it on record.

Mine usually only resets when it gets overwhelmed from too much use I.E. Siri hands free and Bluetooth music.
I’ve never heard of anyone taking the SD Navigation card out for a fix.
I don’t understand how that would help but it’s good to know.

It’s only because you don’t like to play with your SD card.
 
My radio rebooted a couple times since I purchased it and had it serviced for the issue, defiantly not happening as much but like I said it happened a couple times.
Just dropped it off at the dealer for my 5k service, and the radio. The service advisor said it is probably because of my iPhone, claimed Apple does not share the software so the radio is running on a different software and it overloads the headunit causing it to reboot. I am not good with technology but that sounds like bullshit and they don’t want to be bothered. If I pick up my truck and they said they couldn’t do anything my first call will be to corporate to start a case.

That’s actually a legit answer I’d imagine. The only time my head unit reboots is if I’m using Siri hands free continually.

Yeah, when I first got my 17 I had an iphone and it was the biggest PITA trying to get it to communicate with the head unit,... I now have android and life is much less stressful. Lol
