rear disc brakes

I found this online and I'm not sure if I could do it but I found some shops here that they do this stuff. one of them is a Toyota dealer so I may call and see what the total price would be.

Why do u need rear discs?

Theres not much weight in the back, does it come with a new master cylinder?

Comically most the kits EXTENDED stopping distances lol.

Just easier to work on, I think it looks better too. I know people say rear disc brakes are not that good but I did a set on my ranger and it stops a lot better now and I didn’t change the valve to go to disc yet

Rotors and pads wont do that lol.

I think ur gunna make more work for yourself compared to the $230 rear drum job erry 100k miles.

A grand plus the master cylinder just isn’t worth it to me to make the brakes easier to change. Drums really aren’t that hard to work with.

Yeah I was just thinking [emoji848] but my truck would have around 200,000+ miles by the time they need to get replaced and I may just get a new truck by then

Probably will still be good and it’s a 3rd member so the housing stays in the truck.

I’m with @Bojangles and @whippersnapper02. Rear drums are tried and true. They aren’t that hard to work on and as long as they last you can take them to a shop for that matter and still not go broke. But each to their own man.
If you do it let us know how it goes and post pics. A lot of people are interested in the conversion to disc brakes.

Just changed the shoes and wheel cylinders today on my buddy’s 82 SR5. $9 each for the wheel cylinders, around $30 for both sets of shoes, 1.5 hrs of dicking around and good for another 35 years I guess. Ha!

I had a 74 J 10 with drums all the way around. They sucked until I put a vacuum assist booster on it, then it was awesome. I think the surface area of the friction performs better than sandwiching a rotor between two pads
