Recommendations on remote starts.

I'm thinking about having a remote start installed in my truck, I'm leaning towards the Viper brand. Does anyone have any recommendations for which one I should get. Also, I'm a little concerned that if something stupid goes wrong with my truck in the future, they'll try to blame the remote start wiring.I'm probably being paranoid, but I'm always afraid to add any type of aftermarket electrical.I would like to know what everyone here thinks, and what model # remote start I should look into, thanks!

Mine has a 1 mile range and can do all sorts of stuff.

I've always gotten Viper products. They are made by directed electronics and the warranty is lifetime. My last remote start from Viper was a 1 mile line of sight unit, it worked great. But this time I am going with the SmartStart with Viper and I am very impressed.

My wife's car a couple of years ago wouldn't start, and the AAA tow truck driver told us it was because of the remote start. But after taking it to the dealer, it was not in fact the problem.

Hi, if you don't mind my asking, what did the whole thing cost installed?

Be hard for me to use one since I have a manual transmission. I use the E brake but since they are known to fail I also put it in reverse when I park it.

I'm not saying Yoda's E brake's fail, just that I don't trust leaving my truck in neutral while leaving it unattended. In order to use a remote start it would have to be in neutral.

I saw a truck smash a couple of cars a few years ago that the E brake was applied and he left in neutral, the cable broke and the truck rolled down a hill in a parking lot and smashed a few parked cars. The guy that owned the truck was shopping in one of the stores and by the time he came out the cops were there and he unlocked it, the cops saw the E brake was applied. He would of got a ticket if it wasn't. I was at work, it was the excitement of the day. Needless to say a co-worker wasn't so excited, his was one of the cars that got crunched. :blink:

Installed Autostart brand on my 13' Taco works great. Get one that is two way so you get conformation it started.

Is the warranty good if its not the original owner?
I pressed the wrong button and held it felt a buzzing in the remote no it wont start remote
It says its in Valet mode downloaded the instructions but they don't make any sense to me (probably need a 10 year old kid)it says take it out of Valet mode
Both the digital rechargeable one and the one that takes a battery don't work they worked in February when I got the truck
