2017 Access Cab Tacoma Sport TRD, Quicksand, w/ Automatic Trans.
Back in April, I had to trade in my beloved 1998 Extended Cab 4x4 Tacoma with 5-speed because spinal surgery left me partially paralyzed. I could no longer work a clutch with the left foot. Also had to sell my retirement toy, a 2007 BMW Z-4, 6-speed with the larger engine. UGH!!
Both vehicles above went for the Tacoma described in the top line. I had a post back in April about how I disliked the Sport Hood which blocked vision of stuff immediately in front of the truck. For decades, I prowled old un-maintained mining and logging roads in steep terrain, turkey and grouse hunted, and needed to see gullies, logs, stumps, and boulders before I ran over them!! Some day, I may be able to do some of this again.
I traded hoods yesterday on the 2017 Tacoma I had to buy. Young guy bought a Tacoma same color as mine but was 4-door Off Road model that was jacked up. He wanted a Sport Hood with the Scoop!! The salesman at my dealership knew I wanted a Flat Hood as found on the Off Road model and was just waiting for a guy to buy that one and Offer him a Sport hood (mine). We swapped yesterday after I made the 80-mile-round-trip and I can see much better over the flat hood. The kid was happy and I am happy, especially since the kid paid $50 to get a body man to swap them!! PHOTOS attached..................
