Well, I dont know wtf Im doing but I bought some noico deadener (about 40 sq ft)off amazon and started an adventure.
This box, plus another smaller box did the access cab rear panel, and all doors. Disregard measurments I scribbled.

Awesome little tool, roller works well on flat areas and the handle gets into those contoured areas very well.

I covered the inner wall of the door but forgot to take pics, heres the skin tho.

It appears I didnt save any complete pics of the bulkhead finished.

I did cover ALL of it except the large raised rib in the center that spans horizontally.... That I stuffed full of polyfil.

In the end, the cabin is a bit quieter, but I have a 3" exhaust, headers, and a flowmaster super44, so it aint a sleeper by any means. The doors have a nice SOLID thud when closed now, and when you knock on the door panel it doesnt echo, its nice and quiet.

I only started this project because I want to eventually rip out the rear panel and give my Dug more room, so the pics I did take were mainly to keep track of were the holes were and where things bolted up later.

I had ALOT leftover so I moved onto the doors.

Nice. I want to do this to my DC. The weather sucks right now and I don’t feel like doing it in the cold haha.
How’s the road noise and the sound? Do you notice a difference
 
DUG is unamused

stereo sounds clearer, but Its just a simple 6.5 coaxial in the rears and a 5 way 6x9 up front. Powered by a kenwood head unit and no amps.
My $$$ is in the home stereo, I dont want attention drawn to my truck when its in a parking lot.
I enjoy my movies at home tho.

Road noise is much quieter, (again refer to my exhaust setup tho) I used fairly thick deadener and its between the doors as well as on the inner skin.

Music sounds "better" but its a mediocre stereo, my $$ is in my home stuffs. I dont want to worry about my truck in a parking lot.

Im happy so far.

It was pretty cold in the garage so I used a space heater twofold

it warmed the garage some, and also I used it to heat the butly on the deadener before installation.

This stuff DOES NOT smell like tar when heated, its only butyl

Then i took out the seat back.
Bolted/self tapped this aluminum panel in place.

Used 2 dog hammocks, cut the padded half of 1 off. Put grommets (eyelets) in the top of each hammock piece.

Drilled through the alum panel and the back wall (its double walled in some areas), sent some self tappers thru the eyelets in the hammock tops, into the alum panel, and into the back wall of the truck (again double walled).

Dug now has an easier time getting in and turning around since the oem seatback takes up a few precious inches of room, and this is almost flush with the back wall.

When he jumps in i have the (2006) rear seat on drivers side folded flat and the pass side in the up position. So he jumps in the pass side (seat bottom being up makes it a smaller leap). Then he turns around and backs into the area behind the drivers seat and waits for me to lower the passenger rear seat. Then he lays down. Smart freakin dug, i know.

Doubling up the hammocks on the back helps deaden the noise even more. The bottom half is single layered padding.

Ill keep my 4 liter, but thanks.

The sound deadener was in prep to remove the rear seat and give Dug more room. 3rd gen, 5th gen, id still rip the back seat out and thus be removing some of this factory deadener and be in the same position.
