Changing out the speakers won't do anything, you have to have amperage to make it louderThat’s why I was wondering if changing out the speakers would help or if it’s more of a head unit issue
The amp is for all the speakers. The only way to upgrade the JBL from what I’ve read is to replace everything. You’ll need all new speakers, new amp, etc. Don’t think it’s hard it’s just costly to basically buy new everything. Mine is plenty loud, it just doesn’t sound good. I wonder if you have an issue with the amp not getting power to your speakers. Might find a fuse for it and check. Unplug the fuse and see if it sounds the same or check the fuse with a meter.

You're talking like going from four ohms to two ohms for example but then you're going to be dealing with harmonic distortion. That's what a lot of people are doing to get that boom boom because all that vibration is nothing but harmonic distortion. I've always like clean cut sound.Replacing the factory speakers with ones that have a higher sensitivity rating will result in louder sound.
Is there a good system out there that is plug and play for our system? The JBL in my 2010 was plenty loud. Make sure your music source volume is not at a low volume.
If you upgrade any part of it, I'd just go full tilt with new everything.
