tailgate stolen

You are correct. I’ve driven F150’s and 250’s all my life and when I retired I bought my Tacoma unseen. I was surprised to see it didn’t have a tailgate lock. I don’t understand that except to save on costs. I guess the Japanese don’t steal tailgates.

Use the key inside the key fob and manually lock the tailgate. Or on the right side of the gate when its down take a high tensel zip and wrap around the round gate hub. Then cut it short as possible and rotate the zip connection to the bottom of the gate connection. Will it stop the theft no but it forces a thief to cut the zip and that takes a cutter and time. Theifs likes easy thefts and most of the time they will pass to another vehicle.
