When to change new tires for my 2015 Tacoma? - with the penny

Recently, I've read articles about tire wear tests with the penny, but it seems Consumer Reports and others recommend changing tires sooner.
I know a lot of early replace the tires here but who replace the tires at ~4/32", 5/32" instead of 2/32"? From a safety perspective of you?

Depends on the climate you’re in. If you’re in a dry place, no snow, rain or other inclement weather you could go a little longer.

Most if not all tires have a tread warning bar between the tread grooves that is at 3/32". But as noted before weather conditions must be considered. Also age of tires as they will become hard and start cracking. I think it's better to replace before 3/32" for safty issues.
