This just shows how little you know. Spacers WILL retain factory ride. Installing Bilsteins are great no doubt but there is no settling with spacers. As long as your spacers stay within the 2inch limit, there is no harm done to the truck. Leveling a truck even with Bilsteins will cause wear on ball joints.
Coil spacers add preload to the coil which does make the ride stiffer just like when you crank coilovers or just like when you raise the lower mount on 5100s. Top plate spacers space the whole assembly down which can cause the shock to bottom out internally which can lead to shaft bending.
So before you claim that someone doesn't know anything, check your own facts.
