2012 Taco Shifting

I have a 2012 Sport. When I come to a stop then release the brake, it either feels like a downshift or the a dramatic brake release. Any ideas?

Axle wrap is common on the Tacos due to the leaf springs being mounted on top of the rear axle. Sudden stops or hard accel can cause a noise in the back.
