Just bought 2017 TRD OR DCLB had 24 miles on it after I put 14 miles on during the test drive. Love the truck. Its lifted with a 3" toyota approved revtek 40013. It makes a hum hum noise around 35mph that is felt in the floor board, pedals and wheel. Looks like it's try the T-SB-0026-15. Or buy the aftermarket bushing (identified as T8CS-Bushing) to replace the factory needle bearing its made by East Coast Gear Supply (ECGS). I'm hoping toyota will realize the problem still exists in the new trucks. Is anyone else getting this on the 16-17 taco's?? I know it was a known issue for the 05-15. Thought toyota would have fixed the issue on the new ones. I've been told the drive trains are the same on the last 2 gens.

Happens to me too on my 2016 Tacoma, warranty cover everything.. I just paid $95 to parts for the ECGS.. put 1000 miles since they did and is a big difference. Not noises or vibrations.

Did you just tell them the TSB number and they didn't question it. Or did they already know as soon as you said needle bearing? Also did you have to order that part from them or did they recommend that instead of the toyota fix? I'm going to be calling my local dealer next week and be taking it in. Just want to make sure I know my options. I'd rather have the ECGS instead of the toyota part from what I've read.
 
2016 Tacoma with a 2" leveling kit(just space over strut and skid plate spacers). I could hear a noise in the front at around 25mph. As described by another posting "a rythmic humm". Installed Drop Diff kit(again, just spacers). Noise still there. Dealer said to take the life out before they checked it out for warranty purposes. Removed the lift, noise is gone. Possibly I should have purchased a better kit. Does anyone know of a 2" leveling kit that wont cause that sound or another solution?
 
YES They all ready know the TBS
They did recommended the aftermarket part.. and I paid for that only.. the ECGS... they told me that when they do the lift for customers they recommend to do that!!!

Yes is the Bearing problem.. you turn you're 4X4 and noise stops.
 
While it's humming put it in 4x4 if noise goes away needle bearing is your problem. Yes still an issue on the 3rd gen tacomas.

It will never go away so might as well put the ECGS bushing in or take the lift off. Fixed mine 2 weeks ago and problem solved. See the thread humming in a rotation every 3-5 seconds for more info. Good luck
 
Yes, in 4WD the noise goes away. But what I don't understand is if it's the bearing, why did the noise go away when I removed the lift?

Side bearing. It makes noise when there's a radial load on it (downward) from the CV being pulled down by the suspension.
 
Very informative. Thanks. I don't expect my dealer will supply the labor to install the part. Also, I fully expect they will threaten to void the warranty if I have the bushing installed at all. I will check it out with them though.

So I put 285/75/16 BFG KO2 A/T and MB TKO -6 offset wheels on today and I don't feel the needle bearing hum hum any more. I have no rubbing and no vibrations. I don't know if the taller tires changed the angle and fixed it or if the hum from the tires is cancelling the hum from the needle bearing. I don't think the BFG KO2 A/T's ride any harsher than the Goodyear Wrangler A/T's that I took off. I'm going to drive it more and see if it comes back. I also don't know if I should fix the needle bearing issue with the ECGS bushing anyways even if I don't feel the hum hum hum anymore. Any thought?? Update: The hum came back.

I'm going to try and have the dealership do the TSB-0026-15 anyways. I have an appointment for the first week in march. We will see what they do. o_O
 
Just at the dealership for 6 hrs having the transmission TSB-0077-16 Rev-1 done as well as a manual check of the transmission, diff oils and u joints grease checked. They completed their Full inspection of the vehicle as well and Billed it under the 1 month service check for the 2 year service agreement for new toyotas. All fluid levels where good including transmission. One of the lucky ones.
The service manager was not wanting to fix the needle bearing vibration and stated toyota does not think it's still an issue with the new vehicles (2016-17) ...obviously it is. After talking with them about what I've read from others on here they finally had a tech ride with me. The tech could feel the vibration but did not know what it was. I told the service manager if they did the needle bearing fix with the ECGS bushing and it still made the vibrations I would pay for it out of pocket but if it fixed the issue than obviously it's still an issue and should be covered under the TSB 0026-15 or at minimum under my warranty.
They then asked the tech to drive it again but in 4wd high to see if the vibration went away. When he came back he said the vibration went away in 4wd. The service manager could not deny that it was the needle bearing and ordered the parts. I'm going back on Wednesday to have it fixed under warranty.
They also ordered the plugs for the lower control arm holes that "whistle" in cross winds. TSB-0053-16.
Hope this helps someone else. After it's fixed I'm calling Toyota corporate and letting them know their 2017 Tacoma needle bearing is still an issue. They need to extend the TSB-0026-15 for the 2016-17. Maybe in 2018 they will actually fix it. :eek:

Did you get the ECGS bushing for them to put in on Wednesday? If not, they will just put another needle bearing in and the vibes and humming will return eventually.
 
I tried but... No, they said they will not cover any after market parts under warranty. I'm going to let them do what they think will fix it under warranty. If it fixes it great, if it comes back I'll have them fix it again and again and again. Waist of everyone's time and money IMO. I told them I would pay for the ECGS T8CS-BUSHING if they put it in. They said I'd have to pay for the parts and labor if I wanted to go that route. They aren't as cool as bestAntonio's parts and service department. :oops:
