2018 Tacoma engine noise!! Annoying

A well tuned 22R can stay with the 3.0, Having /Driving with the 3.4 for about 12 years I can say it's rock solid in reliability & it's not going to bleed you dry mileage wise but it does like to drink tho'...
I hear that. I would put bigger valves and a RV cam in and they would zip.

Shave 0.024 off the head, chamfer & polish all valve flanges in combustion chamber, get some high domed pistons/ cut the skirts equally to balance, copper head gasket (your gonna need it)

End result should be right around 12.5:1 compression that in no way will you be able to run pump gas thru it ...:D

Surprisingly there really hasn’t been many complaints about them on anything I’ve read. Nothing compared to the ‘16 and ‘17 models.

Yeah didn’t the 2016 have issues with tranny fluid being low as well as leaky diff issues, if I recall correctly..?

OP, I’ll be really interested to hear what this turns out to be. That sounds like my ‘16 when left to idle for awhile when the injector cleaning cycle kicks in for about 15 secs. except it’s at 6 of the injectors. When in bypass mode they are noisy. Put a long screwdriver on the valve cover there and hold the handle to your ear. See if it sounds like it’s in the cam/valve train. Compare the sound along the cover and with the other side. Odd it goes away when reved.

This is why I own one of these. B0A97B59-2EC0-40B0-809D-F23A3B35727D.jpeg

First off I APPLAUD the OP for taking note & getting some audio/video up (finally someone gets it)

If it were legal I'd go back & slap the guy that told you that upside the head for insulting you're intelligence ,

High pressure/low pressure/ no pressure, no way in hell is that a fuel pump (they're in the gas tank right ?)

& no lifter because you don't have lifters, it sounds like it's coming from pass. side & sounds like metal to metal, I also hear what sounds like a "sucking " sound like from an air pump (not saying you have a pump, just sounds like one) In any event not normal by any means, I'd do as suggested & start a case file...
There’s a low pressure pump in the tank that only pushes fuel to the high pressure pump on top of the motor at the injector rail.

To take it a step further why 2 pumps ? If all the second pump does is maintain pressure at fuel rail , a one way check valve just about anywhere behind the rail with 1 good pump (like in past) is fine, no need to reinvent the wheel...
