98 tacoma 2.4L 5 spd clutch replacement

Folks,

Is the transmission crossmember removeable on this truck. Looking at the transmission removal procedure from the tacoma service manual it appears like it ain't.

Assuming the transmission cross member is NON-removable, would a transmission jack aid or hinder transmission removal and installation,

It looks like there are four bolts, and two bolts for the muffler brace, and then it would come out.

I don't know about the crossmember, but a trans jack will always make it easier.

I checked my trans this weekend and it looks like it is welded to the frame, Thank you.

yes, but did you see what the four bolts are mounted to. Thats the cross-member I was talking about.
