Apple CarPlay

Does anyone know if the older model Tacoma’s will get an update for apple CarPlay. I saw how the 2020 models will have it and I have a 2019. It would definitely be useful rather than that entune BS... also, has anyone did anything to make CarPlay an added feature to the taco? Thanks

With a full head unit swap, do you lose a lot of the random settings to the truck that you have access to with the stock head unit?

What random settings would that be? I personally haven't done the swap, nor do I have the Etune system. I'm merely passing on what I've read in other threads.

Oh, wait. I know what othe random settings you're referring to. Things like door locks and light timings, and lock beeps and all that stuff. I'm not sure if you lose those or not.

I had a Pioneer head unit put in mine. You lose two screens where your odometer is...the one showing song info and the navigation screen. You also won’t be able to adjust your door lock situation.

which pioneer unit did you get? can you send a link?

It’s an older Pioneer. I had it in my Nissan Frontier and pulled it out to put in my Tacoma. It was new in May 2018. Pioneer doesn’t sell it anymore but it was one of their AVH models. It was called a double din receiver.
