Bad news for me......

Went fishing today and discover my 2015 Tacoma paint is starting to bubble and peel around the r-f door glass and the r-rear door glass. Called the dealer and they are going to call me back. I read some posts on-line Toyota had a problem with white paint peeling but doesn't look like they are doing much about it, especially for trucks. Warranty is for 3 years only also. My truck is white and I bet more areas will do the same at some point in time. Dang.......

I tried to contact my dealer twice leaving messages for service advisor and then for the service manager with zero luck getting a return call. I have read that Toyota pearl white and super white are the two colors that have a peeling problem and that Toyota is aware of this. And it's not just Toyota but Lexus also. My wife has a pearl white Lexus RX350. So now I might have the same problem with her car. I'll post if they contact me in case others here have super white.

Update: The Service Manager at my dealership contacted me and a Toyota Factory Rep wants to look at the truck. He said there is no reports of a Tacoma having the problem but acknowledges there is a problem with Super white and pearl white on other models. Any repairs would fall under good will and not warranty.

Service manager measured the paint thickness, paint should be 4 mil. My roof and all 4 doors were 2.7. He will contact the factory rep and advise they should re-paint the roof and all 4 doors under good will since the paint is too thin. Other parts did measure 4 mil.

Good news!

Update, factory rep approved re-painting 4 doors and roof. The rest of the panels had good paint per depth gauge. I was told they paint individual panels before assembly so that is the reason some panels were a problem while others have correct amount of paint. Seems it was only a problem with white and no other colors.

Got the truck back yesterday and looks great. Very happy Toyota stepped up and covered it under warranty.
Spoke too soon, after a closer look they only spot blended the areas instead of painting the entire panels. So back to toyota dealer next week to have a long talk as they told me they were painting all the doors and roof due to thin paint. The fight continues......

I know my Tacoma is much older, 2011, but I’m having the same issue. I’m very dissatisfied with it. It’s paid for an only 164k miles on it so I’m not planning to part with it any time soon especially given the current truck market. I’ve taped off area along the windows and sanded and painted them with some white gloss rust oleum. It looks fine when you step away but it’s happening too much and I can’t keep up with it. I guess I’m going to have to take it to a body shop as I’m sure Toyota isn’t going to do anything with an 11 year old truck. It’s pretty much bubbled up in all the areas around the rubber seals on the door windows. Has anyone ever priced or had a basic paint job done?
