Bumper to Bumper (not just drive train) Platinum 0 Deductible 10 Year, 100,000 Miles which really equates to 7 years, 64,000 miles beyond new Tacoma bumper to bumper and 5 years, 40,000 miles beyond drive train. My dealer also gave a non transferable 20 year/200,000 mile drive train train warranty for free with all new vehicles. But this is a new 2018 Tacoma with the new V-6 3.5 liter added which is a little different from other engines in the Tacomas of past.
Peace of mind if you want it......with all the new technology, I thought it wise even though I have owned 7 other Toyotas all with over 120,000 and two with 230,000 miles with no drive train problems. BUT I did have to replace Waterpump on 2007 Tundra at 85000 and Rear Transmission Seal at 123,000 and Brake Caliper at 123, 000. AC out on1987 MR2 at 191,000 and 2004 Corolla Wagon at 140,000. Back then Electronics were not as important/involved as today.
I hang onto my vehicles and have driven almost 900,000 on toyotas and have only been stranded once when a belt tensioner went out on my 2007 Tundra at 113,000. Not bad but other things cost a lot for repair when electronics are involved.
So roll the dice....If you hang onto your vehicles get an extended warranty. If not and you purchase a new vehicle every few years and do not put high mileage on the vehicle.... I would skip the extended warranty for sure as the Toyota Warranty covers quite a while
Spend it now or spend it later if you are a long term owner of a vehicle. Important thing is to maintain per Manufacturer's Schedule and keep it original specs. One you add your own lift kits, oversized tires, switch out brakes, breathers etc. you impact drivability and may void those parts of the vehicle under warranty. Also have PROOF of all performed maintenance.
