Box not bolted to frame....?

Hey there new to the forum. Just had a quick question - wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue...

Just recently I discovered my 2013 Tacoma Double cab (32,000 kms) did not have the passenger side bolts tightened down... basically the entire box was bouncing around like mad - getting progressively louder and louder until I investigated and realized I could pick up the passenger side of box.

In taking it into the dealer, Tech discovered that the exhaust system also was NOT bolted down properly which had destroyed the hanger system and the entire exhaust had to be replaced.

Not a happy camper,

Wow. That's crazy. I work at one of the plants that builds these trucks. We have ridiculously redundant quality checks in every process of making these trucks. It's very very unlikely that it left the plant that way. There must be something that happened to it between the plant and your hands. You may want to contact a body shop and have them check the truck over to see if any repairs were made to the truck. My girlfriend once bought a "brand new" mustang that had been reprinted at the dealer and they didn't disclose that info to her. She accidentally stumbled across left over masking inside the fender area and the dealer had to take the car back and refund her money. So it is possible that the dealer may have, for some reason, loosened the bolts.

Well I must be the unluckiest Toyota owner ever because I previously owned a brand new 2010 Tacoma and the rear window fell out of that truck and was never glued in from the factory... I've got a call into Toyota Canada's head office, waiting to see what they have to tell me... Which I'm guessing will be the same as when I had the window issue.... "Sorry, but there's nothing we can do for you at this time."

ah man that sure sucks:sad:

I was going to say, if you were the 2nd owner it could be that the previous owner had a aftermarket exhaust on it. Put the stock one on before bringing it in.
