De-badging

I often hear talk on this sight about de-badging. Is there a purpose for this or is it just about appearance or what? Just trying to understand.

Just a personal preference. Some like badges and some don't..

I removed all of the chrome badging and replaced them with black. I also replaced the stock grille with a Chinese TRD Pro grille. Love the contrast. Everything else is pure stock. Personal preference. 2017 Super White TRD Off Road.

Yeah, it’s totally personal preference like @kp.taco said.
It used to be everyone wanted chrome, now it seems every wants to black them out.
I blacked out my badges with flat black overlays and replaced the chrome grille with the Pro grille. I’ve never really liked a lot of chrome though. It’s too hard to keep clean.

I figured that the big ass TACOMA stamped in the tailgate was enough for people to figure out what it is. No need for 2 more chrome badges saying what it is.

If it was easier to take that off I would. Short of body filler and paint the big ass TACOMA is going to stay.

Might help the transmission stay in high gear longer.
