Gotcha. So once I reset it, do I go as scheduled with the Milage from my last oil change, or should I count 5k starting after this reset?

Go another 3k, and that should put u at 5k total on that oil right?

Then reset the light as soon as u do the change..... then ur fresh at square 1

About 1,700 miles

It's fine with synthetic. I'd follow your schedule with dino oil and reset when you change it even if the light isn't on. Then it will match the oil life.
