EBC Stage 5 Kit Noise

I was just wondering if anyone has installed the EBC Stage 5 Kit on their Taco. I installed the rotors and yellow stuff pads this morning, along with replacing the OEM rubber flex hoses with stainless braid. After flushing the system and buttoning everything back up, I pulled her out of the garage and upon first brake application in the driveway, all I could hear was a nasty sounding grinding noise, which went away after releasing the brake pedal.

Driving around the block, the grinding was present, and I made sure to apply only light pressure to keep out from being really loud. I'm just wondering if the grinding is the red break-in material on the pads grinding the black coating from the rotors (which would imply that the noise will dissipate over time). Looking at the rotors after parking, the color is definitely getting ground off, so maybe I'm clear?

Looking online (especially at EBC's FAQs), there is only mention of wind noise from the rotor slots, not the initial grinding. I'm just trying to gauge whether this initial behavior is normal, or whether I need to start pulling everything apart again...

Thanks in advance, as usual, for any insight!

Bed em in... see if it helps.
Driving it gentle at first is actually DANGEROUS as the bed in material seems to hinder stopping imo.

LOLOLOL I have VERY little rice in my blood. My plain-jane 13-year-old Taco is testament to that!
Well good move on the brakes so far.

Ive had 2 sets of stage 5 kits over the last few years, stainless steel braided lines for about 8yrs, and abs killswitch for 6 or so years.

Truck stops like it should have from the factory. The stock feel, stopping power, and epileptic squirrel ****ting razorblades (abs) absolutely suck.

Your previous posts were my inspiration LOL. I ordered the switch for the ABS Kill, but haven't installed it yet. Can't wait to actually be able to stop "normally". It never really bothered me until lately, I guess I had adapted to the stock setup...

As of this morning, all seems well. The major grind is done (thank god, that was unnerving), so I'll assume it was related to the bedding-in material taking the black coating off of the rotors.

Replaced the rear drums yesterday (didn't get as far as swapping the stainless lines in though). Even without the rear SS lines, without the front discs being fully bedded, and without ABS Kill, she really stops much better (I'm still in the "gentle braking phase", but the bite still seems much improved).

I DO need to do the e-brake adjustment (at the pedal; the starwheel adjustment was done during install, but I can put it to the floor and it can't even overcome idle creep). I suppose one of my cables is stretched...
