@Bojangles and @whippersnapper02Does anyone currently have an aftermarket exhaust on and any thoughts on putting an exhaust on a Tacoma I currently have the 4.0 V6.
go to a shop and ask them to reccomend 3 or 4 muffler that they think will meet what YOUR wanting to hear and NOT tell u the make or model.Does anyone currently have an aftermarket exhaust on and any thoughts on putting an exhaust on a Tacoma I currently have the 4.0 V6.
This may or may not sound deep on your setup (either way its deeper in person)........... the funny part is, I did this test with long tubes and short tubes (headers).............. the sound the gopro recorded was EXACTLY the same.
In person the difference between short tubes and long tubes is huge.
Sounds good man and i appreciate the advice what brand muffler are you running and can u tell any difference in gas and performance.
now, listen to the rasp in an older video without the borla welded to my ypipe (this is why some of us use 2 mufflers)...usually that ppls next question... "why 2 mufflers" *rasp at about 2min*
I hope you have a word doc of this info haha seems like every few weeks someone is asking this same question.go to a shop and ask them to reccomend 3 or 4 muffler that they think will meet what YOUR wanting to hear and NOT tell u the make or model.
Ask if its ok to have each 1 clamped onto your stock pipes in place of your stock muffler (obviously they have to chop the stocker out).
Let them know u want to start the truck each time and throw a small rev.
Get the "OK" from the tech, and do this...........
ask them to set the mufflers down in series of how they were tested.
when done, say "I like the 2nd one" or whatever number it is.
have it welded in place.
pay them
be happy.
youtube is ****, ur depending on a phone or gopro mic which will MAYBE record 20hz to 20khz, then ur hoping the uploader didnt alter the sound, then ur also hoping you playback source can ACCURATELY replicate the entire range the video captured. This is NOT possible on ur phone, not possible on ur laptop speakers..............HIGHLY doubtful on a decent tower based PC speaker setup, and I bet alot of you dont even have a home stereo that pulls below 25 or 30hz.
my exhaust will rattle the walls in the furthest bedroom here, but my gopro will not pickup that frequency, and my pc wont recreate the entire range either.
buy the muffler your ears like in person.
this was taught to me by a buddy who OWNS a MUFFLER shop.
