You made it sound like it was an old issue years ago. Not that you are going through it right now.Bakflip had not responded as of the first post so could not have given any more info.

So excitingTRUXEDO TRUXPORT
I’ve had my Bakflip MX4 on my Tacoma for a year and half and it’s still great. I had a Bakflip G2 on my 2007 Tundra for years and it was still working great when I sold it.I've heard that the fold up tonneau covers don't hold up well to the elements for more than a couple of years. Anyone had one for 3 years +?
The new design on the Bakflip MX4 stops it before it leans on the truck. 2min in he talks about it
Sounds like you know more about them then me. I don’t know much about the tonneau covers you’re talking about. There are others on here that have installed them. I have the Bakflip MX4 and it fold against the window. It has drain tubes that you can drill into the bed liner for drainage. I didn’t I just have them sitting under my bed mat next to the OEM drain holes that are already in the bed. It’s worked fine for me up to this point. I got mine off amazon for $750 on a wearhouse deal. You might check Craigslist or let go or other selling sites for used ones if you don’t want it pay more than $650. There are lots of covers out there for less. I had a Bakflip G2 on my Tundra and really liked it so when I bought this Tacoma I knew what I wanted. I was ready to pay $1000 for one. I just happen to look on amazon and they had the one I needed in wearhouse at the time.Do you happen to know if anyone makes a hard fold covered with vinyl covering in which the first section next to cab props up, and doesn't break the bank?
Need to keep it under say $650 at the max.
I was about to get either a Gator brand bi-fold (hard) or Pro-z bi-fold (hard) or Pro-z tri-fold (hard) ------- BUT then I learned you have to drill a hole though the bed liner for a drainage tube. How do you feel about doing that?
You can probably tell this is my first cover and myself don't really want to put a hole in my bed liner that does not have a single hole in it already.
So doesn't that mean the water will be draining under the bed liner and resting in the bed until it gets out? Like I said I don't know anything about this yet, but only knowing what I know at this point and time I would rather just get a hard vinyl covered one so as not to worry about it leaking as much as the hard ones or having to drill a hole for the drainage tube.(NOTE: my bed cover does not have the drain-plug that I am seeing in the install videos in which a hole can be drilled, so I suppose that hole will be there forever.) If it did, I might just go ahead and drill because it could of course be replaced if needed.
Anyway, I have not found the first one yet that is made of aluminum and folds back with the vinyl covering over it that PROPS UP at the window. Everyone I have seen thus far are hard w/o vinyl and have drain hoses with the exception of the Bakflip. But again, it's really more than I want to pay for one.
Probably a long shot, but just figured I would ask. Thx
