Help! Accident in my 2017 Tacoma Limited

Hello Everyone,

I don't post a lot on here but definitely read a lot and love all the great advice and tips. Thank you.

I drove/slept in my new truck that I leased (Got it in April this year) from Ontario to British Columbia. After a month of being on the road and over 7000km driven I was in an accident two days before I was suppose to drive home. All are okay, I was alone in the truck at the time - driver and passenger in the other car were walking and talking after the crash, no major injuries as far as I know. I am sure everyone is still stiff and sore.

Got hit hard front passenger side wheel. The other car must have hit me at between 50km/h - 75km/h.
Side passenger air bags went off.

Have a look at the first estimate the insurance company has sent me.

I don't know what I should ask, but it seems low to me. How can they know this with tearing down the truck more? I was hit so hard that when the firefighters came and went to disconnect my battery it had been disconnected from the impact. What about frame damage? Why didn't my drivers side curtain bags not go off?

I'll try and upload photos of the truck also.

Thank you for all your comments and advice.

They'll do the estimate first then if more has to be fixed, they'll (the body shop) do a supplemental claim to cover costs that weren't on the initial cost. I had a limb fall on my truck (2017 as well) and that's what they did.

That's what I'm saying....what if they find more and then it works out that they should have just written it off? Frame damage... engine??

I am sure that the air bags have battery back up or something like that - electrostatic charge... but what if they didn't deploy properly because of the battery being disconnected at time of impact? Pretty sure I hit a parked car after the initial impact.

Hope you are alright.

The side airbags would only have gone off on the side you were hit. All the bags don't go off just because you are in accident. You can see the same thing happen on the crash tests:

As far as a dollar figure is concerned, it is only an estimate and can change at any time. The damage doesn't look too bad in my eyes. Frames can be straightened now if there is some damage. I'd just keep all documents in case of future issues.

Wow, alot of items overpriced or over billed. 1000$ for headliner, 1500$ for headlight assembly. Hell, you can put a snakeskin headliner in cheaper and get better upgraded light assembly for cheaper. I feel for ya. I hope the taco gets fixed properly.
