I know the traction control and other add ons are made for safety but it seems like it can get you in more trouble at times. We all survived just fine before it.

If I’m headed out to play in the forest, I turn Trac control completely off before I even leave the driveway. Haha

I remember my first vehicle with ABS. I bought a new Ford Ranger in ‘02. After driving an old ‘84 Bronco with questionable brakes I was used to hitting the brakes hard.
I thought I was going to throw myself through the windshield until I got used to the ABS. I hated it.

Haha! I drove a 69 f100 until I was around 24 that didn’t even have brake lines run to the back. No backing plates or anything on the rear end. I did swap the I beams out of a 70’s that had disc though. [emoji23] It’s still at my Dad’s house. I used to fire it up and take it for a spin every time I went home until Dad put my motor and 5 speed in a single cab Mazda,... I couldn’t be mad at that! [emoji23]

I miss the old stuff. Being able to fix everything (even if it was jerry rigged). Taking a vehicle to a shop was a cardinal sin for me years ago. If it couldn’t be fixed in the driveway than it didn’t get fixed. Lol. I haven’t adjusted a carburetor in close to 10 years probably.
Sentiment is always better looking back I guess.

My grandfather had a ‘67 F100 long bed. He had that and a ‘77 F250 until he passed in 2009. Those were fine trucks. That ‘67 was a beauty.
 
I was the same way. Still am kinda. But if it’s people in the shop that I trust and the price is reasonable, I’d rather go fishing while they fix my stuff. [emoji23] I’m itching to build another engine,... built a 351M a couple years ago just to prove to myself that I could salvage a Ford failure. [emoji23] it went into a 77 long bed and actually signed it over to my Dad as a surprise. He helped me with all my old Ford projects.

77 built for Dad. Ended up putting the light blue on the roof and around the back glass and added the factory molding.

The 351M.... never owned one but worked on a couple. Short lived motors.
I have the 100k warranty on this Taco so it’ll go to the shop if it breaks down. Lol.

That 69 is a beauty. The 77 looks great too, with a rebuilt power plant he’s got a heck of a truck there.
You can tell you live in a place without a lot of snow/salt. Every Ford here from the mid 90’s back is as much bondo as metal. Lol.

It came with the open chambered, 78cc I think, 2v Cleveland heads,... JUNK. it had like 7.5:1 comp ratio from factory and a 6° retarded cam. I zero decked the block, threw away the ~35cc pistons and replaced with a Hypereutectic flat top that was extremely hard to find because nobody in their right mind tries to build these things,... found some Aussie 302 heads and spent a week or so working on them. COMP Cams had the 0° timing gears I needed, and a little thump stick to go with it. Some roller stuff, Aluminum intake saved me about 30 pounds, lol. And ended up with a 750 Holley to let her breathe. I rebuilt the C6 to handle a few more horses and put a manual valve body in it because I really do hate automatics that much! Dad loves it! I had fun with it for 6 months or so. Best running M or 400 I’ve ever been in!

That’s in south Louisiana at Dad’s. You don’t want anything made out of metal from South Louisiana. Lol. I’m in AZ, we do get snow but they use cinders instead of salt. This is a great place to find old metal!

It took a lot of number crunching and brain farts but it worked, pretty dang good too. Had to do some work on the oiling system and passages too because they were famous for running at 5psi oil pressure. When I was finished, It fired up at 80psi and ran warm around 50. I like building the more unconventional engines, it doesn’t take much of an IQ to build a tree fiddy. [emoji23]

That’s the truth. That engine was a Ford flop of emission regulations. They had some jewels over the years trying to crank something out quick to meet regulations.
Too bad you weren’t around at Ford in the 70’s. You could have showed them how to fix their motors. Lol

I don’t know about that,... My builds are rarely ever emissions compliant. [emoji23]
