I got a 2017 tacoma trd or and every time that I drive the car in the morning or after work makes this thing.
When I come to a complete stop looks like someone just rear ends me,but just happens a couple of times until the truck warms up.
Any ideas what could be?
Thanks

Not really understanding what you mean.
If it’s a noise could you post sound/video to let us hear it? That’s the best bet at getting it figured out.

My 2017 OR does it too. I actually got out of my truck and looked the first time it happened the lady behind me was so confused. I thought for sure she had hit my truck. It happens more when it’s cold out or the truck is cold. I didn’t notice it much in the summer but I’ve noticed it a lot this winter. I’m use to it now but it’s still super annoying. A fix from Toyota would be nice.
Hey, Toyota you listening!! Haha

Ya it's being happening a lot lately, but when warms up stops.
I'm trying to upload a video but it's not working.

Trying to upload a video straight to the thread won’t work it will only except 3Mb. Best way to get a video to post is by uploading it to YouTube and then posting the link.

Get an add a leaf.... itll stiffen the rear up a little and lessen this nonsense.

Id suggest a progressive add a leaf (aal)... itll give about 1.5" of lift but remain complaint even while unloaded. A single aal will make an unloaded truck ride a bit firmer.

Id say icon, or wheelers 3 leaf aal should be adequate.
Course id also suggest bimstein 5100 rear shocks as well. The 5100s will accomodate the extra lift, and stock shocks may not. The 5100s will also give a better ride.

These 2 items will keep the back end planted since itll be more compliant over bumps. Stock i bet hops around on bumps, especially bridge expansion joints which can be dangerous while in a curve, and even more so in slick conditions.

Axle wrap has been an issue since 05. Kinda have to live with it. Notice it happens with the AC on or in defrost.
All that tq, specially with the 4.0 when the ac cycles :D, binds up the rear leafpack.

Ive got a nice dent in my garage wall where the truck surged 1 day when i had the ac on.
Its odd, the camry i can let off the brake and it dont move... the truck, she just pulls at the reigns, and as soon as i let off the brake she just goes.... ac on or off, engine warm or cold, from idle.....You notice this?

Same thing with mine. I have an access v6 long bed. Not 4x4. Ac on or not. Truck will do 15 mph loaded if I just coast with the brake off. I think it’s just a tight transmission. Must mean Clutch packs are still good.

I’ve been having a clicking noise when I’m on the brake and switching from drive to reverse or vice versa. It sounds like it’s coming from the front, like a lower ball joint or sway bar end link. I’ve checked them all and no tears in any rubber and no excess grease

Mine was a lot worse with the surging when it was new. It’s almost a non issue now.
That sucks you dented the garage wall. Lol.

Is that what that is?
It usually happens right before I come to a stop, I thought it was my transmission downshifting and catching weird

That is the transmission down shifting that you feel while you’re stopping. Like a lag or a catch in the down shift.
The axel wrap happens after you completely stop you’ll feel a bump like someone rear ended you. My 2017 OR does both of those.

I just installed my lift with a HS progressive 3 leaf and had always had the axle wrap before this. When I was loosening my u bolts from my tsb leafs I noticed they were no where close to torque and they came loose super easy. Wasn’t to happy knowing that toyota themselves installed those recently. I had read on another forum of torquing the u bolts down while the truck is in drive helping with this problem. Now that the lift is on and I torqued them down while in drive I have not felt the bump or wrap at all. I’m hoping this was the fix. [emoji1417]

Here’s to hoping.

This happen with other vehicles mefor example I drive a Kenworth automatic transmission and every time I stop a little to hard it does the same thing, it feels like someone hit me.

I haven’t had the problem in the last few months. I reset the ECU once and it was the same deal over. All of the jerking and lunging.
It seems to improve after the ECU “learns” your driving patterns. It worked for me anyway.

Sounds like a brilliant idea, please record this adventure.

Or u can be smarter and just tq em to 80ft lbs as many suggest with the truck park, key off and the brake set. Toyota service manual states 35ft lbs i believe... highly inaccurate as the majority agrees.
