The bed net....does it only attach at the d-rings at the end of the bed?

The bed mat is one of the most useful $100 you’ll ever spend for your truck.
That looks like an actual Toyota OEM net. I’ve had aftermarket ones in about all my trucks for years. You can pick them up for under $10.

I assume you’re talking about the net.
If you wanted to add it closer to the cab you would have to use the rear D rings or add some.
I always used the adjustable top tie downs in the Tacoma for the top.
In other trucks I’ve had with no adjustable tie downs I always added D rings.

Yeah. You won’t need anything too aggressive for the composite bed.
