My first Toyota pickup…1972
I had just wrecked my 75 chev Vega, actually totaled it out. Needed a new ride & my neighbor had a 72 Toyota pickup for sale. I was 16 & needed a ride. It was a perfect match. Pickup would pull my horse trailer but it had to work to get it up to 50 mph with my horse in the back. This pic is what it looked like except my truck was a dark green.

Not really, these trucks didn't make a whole lot of power either. The truck would skate on wet corners in the rain, or slide every time you touched the brakes on snowy roads. I finally installed 4 studded snow tires during the winter that helped.

My First Toyota Pickup

Technically (titled & registered in my name only), my first Toyota pickup truck was my oldest sons 1995 Tacoma MT in GoldMetallic. He drove it every day from 9th-12th grade in HS and 4-more in college (followed by his brothers 1990 SR5 MT Midnight Black pickup truck, and his other brothers1993 NavyBlue MT pickup truck). So when it was finally my turn, and after watching these amazing vehicles never breaking down, and always on the go, I traded in my F-150 for a brand new 2014 Taco MT 4WD SuperWhite.

And then, my youngest sons 93 rolled backwards on a slight incline while he was in class. It popped out of gear and rolled into another students car behind him. The E-brake on that pickup truck seized-up and stopped working a couple of years prior to the incident and he never told me about it. I knew he didn't have the time or the money to take it to a shop for repairs so we "gifted" each others pickup trucks (it's a Missouri thing; saves you on taxes) and now the 93 Toyota was my daily driver. I had all the repairs done when I lived in El Paso and sold it there. I wish I still had that little yota.

Took that money as a down payment and bought my new 2016 TRD Sport MT MagneticGray in Denver. Put 99,000 miles on her and traded it to my oldest son. And then in 2020, Toyota introduced "VooDooBlue" and I got another TRD Sport MT and absolutely love it. So here we are in 2024 and Toyota has released the 4th gen Taco and I love the TRD Sport MT 4WD BlueCrushMetallic. Production delays and demand has slowed down the "pipe-line" so I may not get my manuel transmission til 2025 but I'm willing to wait. Enjoy :)
