Oil change filter

For you do-it-yourselfers like me that change your own oil I have a 2015 with 30,0000 miles and change my oil and filter every 5k miles. I just bought a Fram oil filter claiming its good for 20,000 miles. Does anyone skip a filter change since this one style of oil filter goes up to 20k? (there would be about 8 ounces of "old" oil in it). I got this one because it came with the sale. Thanks.

Question is will the filter element hold up for that long and still provide the filtering ability. I change the filter every oil change and I use OEM Toyota filters.

I dont think I would leave a filter in that long. A company can claim a filter will last that long, but are going to pay to replace your engine when it seizes up? I would guess not.

I would never change oil without a new filter. Ya, 20K is not a lot of miles but filters are fairly cheap so why not change it.

Fram filters don't have a good reputation. They may be better now but for a while they would cause engine failures.

OEM only, you can get 10 from eBay for about $40 shipped to your house.

Changing you're oil and not you're filter is like washing you're feet and putting you're dirty socks back on. I wouldn't trust anyones filter for 20k miles, let alone a Fram.

i would stick to what the owners manual recommends for the oil change interval, although im sure going 10k miles between changes would be probably fine, why risk it
